Fiberglass (fiber reinforced plastic) is a newly developed material for manhole covers. Manhole cover were traditionally manufactured from concrete, steel fibre concrete, cast iron, ductile iron, or PVC material, but these materials had their own shortcomings like low load carrying effciency. FRP is considered to be the best alternate material for manhole covers as it has longger lifespan and has the capacity to withstand heavy loads. Increase in heavy traffic and expensive metals completely replaced traditional covers with FRP manhole covers.
Material and Construction
Crafted from high-quality fiberglass reinforced with resins, these manhole covers exhibit exceptional strength-to-weight ratios. Their construction ensures resistance to corrosion, extreme temperatures, and heavy loads, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.
Functionality and Features
Fiberglass manhole covers represent a durable, lightweight, and resilient solution for covering access points to underground utility systems, drainage, and sewage systems. These covers are designed to offer strength, longevity, and safety in various settings.
Fiberglass manhole covers are engineered to provide a secure and reliable covering for underground access points. Their robust construction allows for durability and resistance to wear and tear, while their lightweight nature facilitates easy handling and installation.

FRP Manhole Cover Classifications
It is important to consider the strength requirement when purchasing a manhole cover. Our FRP manhole covers conform to EN 124:2015 British standards classes, and should be considered when purchasing a manhole cover for a particular application. These classes are as follows:
B125: capable of withstanding a 125kN load (12.5 tonnes). Car parks and pedestrian areas with very light traffic use.
C250: capable of withstanding a 250kN load (25 tonnes). Car parks and industrial sites with slow moving traffic.
D400: capable of withstanding a 400kN load (40 tonnes). Carriageways and hard shoulders.
